Learning experiences happen to us throughout our lives. Not long ago, I had one that I would like to__1__. I was going to Marblehead with my sailboat team. The team was racing down the highway at 85 mph__2__we realized we were__3__. Luckily, we saw a rest area ahead. I had a brand-new $20 bill. I was so__4__because I had never had that kind of cash before. But spending it on__5__seemed like throwing it away. We all rushed into the pizza line__6__ I got a pizza and a drink, and walked to my table. About halfway through the meal, I__7__I had not actually handed any money to the cashier. I had just__8__out, and nobody had noticed. I felt terrible.

My conscience(良心) opened its mouth and swallowed me in one big bite. I couldn’t__9__over it. I just couldn’t go back to the cashier and__10__for my stolen pizza. I was so upset that I__11__to give myself the pleasure of an ice cream in__12__that someone would say, “Hey. Jeff, why don’t you use the change__13__the pizza instead of that nice, new $20 bill?” I was not so__14__of my cash now. For the next two years, whenever I was__15__of the “pizza incident”, I would say to myself, “Don’t think about it.” I have learned two things from this__16__ . Maybe I was a fool for__17__in to my conscience, and being too stupid to appreciate a__18__pizza. But the real lesson is that even if you get away from what you have done, your conscience will__19__up with you. This reflects the saying, “A coward(懦夫) dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies one.” I was a coward and have felt terrible about that incident at least a thousand times. If I had been a__20__” and gone back to pay for the pizza, I would have felt a little uncomfortable about it only once, or maybe twice. 1-5 CDCAB 6-10 BDABB 11-15 ADDCB 16-20 ADACD 1. 但只要将选项还原,我们就会发现:to say an experience是非常不地道的用法;to talk an experience在语法上也不对(通常用to talk about sth.),因此可以排除这两项。 “notice”的确有察觉到的意思,但通常用于嗅觉、视觉、听觉等感官察觉到的东西(牛津高阶:”notice: to see or hear sb/sth; to become aware of sb./sth.”)。 如果用”left”,后面不用加out; work out“计算出”;find out“找出”。 9. 13.正确答案:D 正确率:24% 解析:”the change from the pizza”表示“从买批萨那里找来的零钱”,from本身就有“从… 选A、C的同学大概看到change就觉得change into sth., change for sth. I was not so pleased by my cash now”. “be pleased by”表示“被… 15.正确答案:B 正确率:48% 解析:sb. be reminded of sth.是remind sb. of sth. 如果用thought,直接说”every time when I thought…” give in to sth.” 因此用give in to。 18. Make up是弥补的意思,wake up 是醒来的意思,而put up with是容忍、宽容的意思。 20. “A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies one”一句中提及了两种人:coward 和hero.
